No More Room in Hell 2 Hotfix 2 — Now Live as 1.0.4.0

Post-Armageddon stability train that evolved into the first weapon spread rebalance.

Hotfix 2 — NMRIH 2

The patch players called Hotfix 2 is now live as Hotfix 1.0.4.0 on August 25, 2026. The August 13 launch-week blog mixed live ops with a forward-looking roadmap, and most of those promised items shipped in 1.0.4.0 (Steam build 24830003) along with the first weapon spread rebalance since the Armageddon launch. This page tracks what 1.0.4.0 actually delivered, what is still under investigation, and what the wiki treats as shipped versus planned.

For the full detailed changelog, see Hotfix 1.0.4.0. For the rest of the launch arc, see Hotfix 1.0.3.1 (customization crashes, keybind reset, Hong Kong region) and Launch Week Support (Oceanic servers, shop price fixes).

What Hotfix 2 / 1.0.4.0 actually shipped

  • Sensitivity ceiling raised from 2 to 6. Recalibrate after updating.
  • Scoreboard mute, block, and report restored for controller players; blocked players are now muted in voice.
  • Survival Mode final respawns at the end of Wave 3 and at the start of extraction. Objective mode will follow in a later patch.
  • Weapon spread rebalance across every firearm family — initial and max spread trimmed, handguns gained higher per-shot spread, moving spread multipliers reduced.
  • Memory and crash fixes including leftover crashers from 1.0.3.1.
  • Customization fixes — Early Access ghost cosmetics no longer show for non-owners, single items no longer appear in multiple slots, preview items no longer lock loadouts.
  • Weekly Assignment fixes — Fierra DB12 now counts as a shotgun, notification no longer freezes controller input.
  • Carryable pickups cancel healing consumption to avoid wasted meds.
  • Regional matchmaking routing fixed for continental Asia and similar under-routed regions.
  • Disconnect forgiveness — some Responders no longer die on disconnects that should preserve the character.
  • Awaiting Respawn message no longer appears when respawns are disabled.
  • “Server is full” error eliminated when entering a match.
  • Exit to Main Menu now requires confirmation, preventing accidental rage quits.
  • Options menu no longer asks to save changes that were never made.
  • ADS zoom corrected on several weapons that previously rendered the wrong magnification.

What is still under investigation after 1.0.4.0

A few items from the August 13 blog did not ship in 1.0.4.0 and remain under investigation:

  • GeForce Now crashing after Terms of Service agreement.
  • Controllers losing focus on level-up rewards and character creation screens.
  • Cross-play disabled matchmaking taking too long to fill.
  • Unload keybind not rebinding properly.
  • Random controller vibration during menus.

If your session is blocked by one of these, swap host, enable cross-play if your group allows it, or play Solo Mode until a later patch addresses the issue.

What 1.0.4.0 is not

It is not a content patch — no new maps, no Survival arenas, no new Responders, no new skills, no new attachments. The Beyond Armageddon roadmap still rules future content for 2026 (September attachments and map permutations, October items, Responder Retirement, Hell Mode).

It is not a permadeath rules change. Rescue Beacons still work the same way; infection still spreads the same way; helicopter extract and early-hatch extract still trigger under the same conditions.

It is not the September update. Controller deadzone fixes and the new Lewiston / Pottsville permutations announced in the Beyond Armageddon roadmap remain targeted for September 2026.

How to use this page in your workflow

  1. Update to 1.0.4.0 before forming an eight-stack. Mixed clients fail invites.
  2. Rebuild sensitivity from default — the new ceiling is triple the old one.
  3. Re-test weapon roles — spam-fire is even less forgiving under the spread rebalance.
  4. Run one Survival lobby to confirm the new final respawns at Wave 3 and at extract.
  5. Audit your locker for Early Access ghost cosmetics and duplicate loadout entries.
  6. Replay any stuck Weekly Assignment that involved the Fierra DB12 shotgun.
  7. Tune your build against Best Builds and the Skills Tier List.
  8. Treat the Updates Hub as your recurring checklist for future patches.

Quick answers for Responders preparing for the next deployment.

Has Hotfix 2 shipped?

Yes. Hotfix 2 shipped as Hotfix 1.0.4.0 on August 25, 2026 (Steam build 24830003). Console equivalents are pending certification. Update your client before forming an eight-stack.

Did Survival get new respawn rules?

Yes. Survival now grants a final respawn at the end of Wave 3 and at the start of extraction. Objective mode will receive the same treatment in a later patch.

Will it fix my stuck achievement?

Achievement tracking fixes shipped in 1.0.4.0 alongside controller scoreboard access. Replay the stuck task after updating to confirm the unlock registers.

Does Hotfix 2 add new maps?

No. This is a stability and balance patch. No new maps, Survival seasons, or permadeath changes.

What under-investigation items did NOT ship?

GeForce Now crashes, controller focus loss during character creation, cross-play matchmaking delay, Unload keybind issues, and random controller vibration remain under investigation for a future patch.
