Skills Tier List — NMRIH 2

Skills turn a lucky crowbar into a repeatable extract machine. In No More Room in Hell 2, every Responder can roll the full pool, while account progress unlocks Expert variants and rerolls cost credits. This tier list ranks skills by role value for Scenario finales and Survival waves, then points you to How to Unlock Skills for progression details and Best Builds for full kits.

How skill tiers work here

  • S-tier: Near-universal or role-defining; keep on almost every relevant build.
  • A-tier: Strong in its lane; worth Expert unlock priority.
  • B-tier: Fine flex picks; reroll if they fight your role.

Permadeath means a dead Responder loses that skill roll set. Rank for consistency, not meme synergies that need eight perfect teammates.

Frontline / Executioner skills

S-tier: Athlete, Guts, Butcher, Sturdy Body. Stamina pool, recovery, limb damage, and mistake reduction are the spine of melee clears.

A-tier: Heavy Shoves and related stagger tools that create safer limb windows.

B-tier: Niche damage curios that only shine on one weapon family you do not have.

Frontliners die when stamina hits zero in a grab. Prioritize Athlete/Guts before chasing exotic damage nodes.

Crowd Control skills

S-tier: Hard Blow, Teddy Bear, Rush, Foreman. Two-handed blunt stability damage, cheaper charged hits, and kick utility win Survival doorways and plant stairs.

A-tier: Athlete/Guts overlap from the Executioner pool—CC still burns stamina.

B-tier: Pure firearm nodes on a blunt specialist; they waste slots unless you truly hybridize.

Marksman skills

S-tier: Steady Shot, Scavenger, Vulture, and heavy-rifle damage/range nodes (Steel Chamber, Eagle Eye, Penetrating Shot). Ammo find and weight reduction matter as much as recoil control.

A-tier: General firearm comfort skills that help pistols when the rifle is dry.

B-tier: Melee-only damage skills on a dedicated shooter—keep one melee survival node, not five.

Marksman is S-tier for the squad, not for six players at once. Unlock these Expert variants for one or two Responders, not the entire roster.

Breacher skills

S-tier: Doorbreaker, Grenadier, Overkill, Icarus. Entry speed, throwable weight, close suppression, and shotgun reach define the role.

A-tier: Foreman and Guts for the messy seconds after a bang.

B-tier: Long-range rifle packages that conflict with breaching tempo.

Mule / logistics skills

S-tier: Caravan, Mule, Vulture, Healing Item Stack, Builder. Carry capacity and weight cuts let one player bank the team’s future.

A-tier: Athlete and Thick Skin to offset mobility/health strain from heavy packs.

B-tier: Glass-cannon damage skills that leave the logistics brain fragile.

Medic skills

S-tier: Skilled Medic, Stayin’ Alive, Healing Item Stack, Acquired Immunity, Thick Skin. Heal output, revive speed, infection resistance, and survivability while patching others.

A-tier: Light carry nodes so kits actually fit.

B-tier: Loud offensive trees that pull aggro while you are mid-bandage.

Remember infection timing: pills delay roughly five minutes; Gene Therapy is the true reset. Medic skills do not replace item economy—they multiply it.

Scout skills

S-tier: Quiet Steps, Marathon Runner, Athlete, Guts, Limbo. Silent movement, sustained travel, and downed forgiveness for isolated objective touches.

A-tier: Utility navigation helpers when you are the radio/code runner.

B-tier: Heavy mule packs that erase the stealth fantasy.

Cross-role S-tier overlap

Some skills appear in multiple kits for a reason. Athlete and Guts are the universal stamina backbone—Executioner, Crowd Control, Scout, and even heavy Mules lean on them. Thick Skin shows up wherever someone stands still to help others. Vulture helps Marksmen and Mules equally because ammo weight is a shared tax.

Do not treat tier labels as exclusive ownership. If your Scout finds themselves anchoring a Survival doorway, temporary CC habits beat dying “on brand.” Skills enable roles; they do not forbid adaptation when the compass flips.

Infection and medical skill timing

Acquired Immunity and medic-line skills reduce how often pills are mandatory, but they do not delete the clock. Once infected, expect roughly five minutes toward conversion without Phalanx suppression. Gene Therapy remains the only clean cure-plus-immunity package for the rest of the deployment. Rank medical skills high on at least one squadmate every queue.

Reroll advice

Unlock Expert variants for the roles you actually play, then reroll dead weight. A Medic with Marksman dead rolls should spend credits, not cope. Leave flexible slots in every build so map modifiers and Survival vs Scenario needs can shift. After a permadeath wipe, rebuild the same spine instead of gambling a brand-new identity every Responder.

Skills are the long game of No More Room in Hell 2. Weapons spawn; skills persist until permadeath takes them—so tier for the Responder you want to keep extracting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Responders preparing for the next deployment.

Should I unlock Expert skills for every tree?

Prioritize the roles you main. Expert Marksman nodes are wasted if you always play Executioner frontline.

What are the safest S-tier skills for beginners?

Athlete, Guts, Sturdy Body, and Skilled Medic teach stamina survival and team value before specialized firearm trees.

Do skills matter in Survival Mode?

Yes. Crowd control and stamina skills shine on wave defense; mule/medic skills still decide whether the squad can use supply drops well.

Where do I learn how unlocking works?
